MITAK Wear Resistant Alloys are used in crushing, grinding, pumping and materials handling applications

Grinding

MITAK has gone to great lengths to develop alloys that can endure some of the most abrasive applications in the power generation and mining industries in South Africa.

In fact, some of the conditions for which MITAK alloys have been designed may be among the most abrasive in their application.  For example, the MITAK grinding elements supplied to most of South Africa's Power Stations grind coal with extremely high ash contents - many in excess of 35%.

The experience MITAK has gained in the development of materials designed to withstand these harsh conditions has been applied to all its products, and today MITAK is among the world's most trusted manufacturers of premium grinding elements.

MITAK produces parts for the following types of mills:

  • Tube mill liners supplied by MITAK line over 200 autogenous and semi-autogenous, rod and ball mills for wet and dry applications.
  • MITAK makes tables and tyres with both flat and curved grinding profiles for a wide range of vertical spindle mills. The maximum sized solid tyres that are currently manufactured have outside diameters of 2.2m.
  • High chrome rings and balls for Babcock-type E-Mills also form part of MITAK’s current scope of grinding components as do tyres and Bull Rings for Raymond-Type mills.
